Depiction
A lasting, bunch framing grass that develops to two meters, African feathergrass has profound stringy roots. It frames rhizomes 7mm in the distance across, up to 2m long, from which new elevated shoots and roots rise.
Stems:
erect, round and purplish-white
numerous fine hairs that server when touched and can bring about skin disturbance
Takes off:
light green on top with a dull green, purple edge underside straight
develop to around 60cm long
emphatically ribbed and harsh to the touch
Blossom head:
slender, barrel shaped, spike-like stem
around 30cm long with abounds
contains numerous seeds
blossoms show up from November to April.
